I have several ideas for things that I can do if you elect me to the CMS School Board.
Here are two examples:
I will work with non-profit groups like BEST NC (www.best-NC.org) to identify schools across North Carolina producing the highest results educating children in high concentrations of poverty, because that is our biggest issue in CMS. Such schools may be urban or rural, traditional public schools or charters. If other North Carolina schools are doing significantly better educating kids in poverty, we need to know. I will lead a bus tour visiting and touring these high performing schools.
Here’s another idea: our tallest buildings Uptown are only a few miles from our poorest schools. How many of those kids have never been to the 60th floor of the Hearst Tower, to see the views for miles around, ride an elevator so high your ears pop? How much would it cost to get those kids up there? To hear about the 5,000 employees who work there every day? Some without high school diplomas, probably cleaning the building at night; some with diplomas, perhaps security guards or some office help; some with two year degrees or certificates, elevator repair and some IT workers making over $30 per hour; and 4 year degrees and graduate degrees and probably CEO’s of Fortune 1,000 companies, maybe someone making $5 or $10 million per year; and if they want to be a part of that, WE’RE HERE TO HELP.
Please help me. Pledge to vote this November 7, 2017 and demand your friends vote too, because fourteen (14%) percent turnout is a travesty. Volunteer to help me on Election Day. Forward this email to your friends. Please consider donating financially as every bit helps.
Thank you for your support.
