My name is Jeremy Stephenson and I am running for Mecklenburg County Board of Education – District 5, this November.
In 2011, I represented our neighborhood before the Board of Education on school assignment boundaries, and learned the long and important history of Charlotte. I campaigned for the 2013 School Bond, and learned the budget process. In 2015, two school board members and a County Commissioner, and more than 30 other endorsers, asked me to run for an At-Large CMS School Board seat, and despite receiving over 22,000 votes as a first time candidate, did not win. I learned so much about our great town in that campaign, and love it more than ever.
Now friends and neighbors ask me to run again, now for Mecklenburg County Board of Education – District 5, my home district. Eric Davis, after giving so much to CMS, is not running again, and the seat will be vacant.
I sit in a unique position to build bridges with the BOCC, the City Council, and the NC General Assembly, where so much education policy is made, as well as with the business community who can to much more to help public education. I will tirelessly seek out the voices of those directly impacted by CMS policies; students, parents, teachers, and school staff. My personal and professional experiences are unique, and highly valuable, as a School Board candidate.
Please support my campaign for the Mecklenburg County Board of Education – District 5.
